Wizard World Chicago (2011)

Last weekend I made it back to Wizard World Chicago for the first time in four years. It was actually a really great time with lots of friends and excitement. I was struck immediately though by the absence of any of the major comic book companies as well as no Mattel and no Hasbro. I guess a lot has changed since the last time I was there.

Fortunately I was able to buy up all the SDCC exclusives that I wanted from Hasbro directly from HTS.com. They arrived a couple of days before I left for WWC. Additionally on the way back from WWC I scored the mass market version of the Sentinel, which is great.

It's good that I was lucky with my toys before and immediately after the show because just about every vendor at the con had only stuff that was currently (and readily) available at retail and/or strictly had eBay-level price points. When I normally can expect to fill many holes in my various collections I was only able to score a hand full of items direct at the con. Mostly that was out of boredom with the selection to be honest. Fortunately I don't only go down for the toys!
